  • Improvement of the installation technology of the insulating lining of the radiant chamber of the natural gas steam reforming furnace

The paper presents the properties and nomenclature of products made of ceramic fiber used for insulating lining in steam reforming furnaces. On the example of the lining of the radiant chamber, the technology of mounting ceramic blankets on anchor studs, which is currently used in the construction and repair of reforming furnaces, is considered. The shortcomings of the existing technology are noted. These include the complexity of the process, the complexity of installation control and the high probability of uneven thermal conductivity of the lining surface due to hidden defects, as well as the spraying of ceramic fiber particles in the air that cause diseases. The nomenclature and technology of installation of insulating lining with ceramic blocks along guide tubes with subsequent resistance welding with the camera body is proposed. The technology will reduce the repair time, improve the thermal conductivity of the camera, reduce the risk of diseases.

  • Redevelopment of industrial areas according to Fitwel's eco-standard

The increase in the population of large cities leads to the need for residential buildings, office space, leisure facilities, etc. leads to an increase in new construction. The city cannot constantly develop in terms of space as it is limited by the territory allocated to it in the framework of the cadastral division of the territory and it cannot grow indefinitely in breadth. That is why there are various programs for urban development, such as renovation, redevelopment of industrial areas and reconstruction of existing buildings. Also in recent years it has become popular to use different environmental standards in the design and construction of new or reconstructed buildings. This article will focus on the redevelopment of industrial areas with the development of underground space from the perspective of Fitwel ecological standard.

  • Choice of sheet piling method for bank protection in conditions of dense urban development

The article is devoted to the analysis of sheet pile driving methods during the construction of a bank protection structure in dense urban areas. Four methods are considered in the paper: driving, vibration immersion (if necessary using leader drilling), indentation, vibroimpact. Comparative characteristics of the above methods of immersion are given. It is concluded that in conditions of dense urban development: a) the driving method is the least preferable, due to severe noise pollution and a negative impact on foundations near the work site; b) in the presence of dense soils, the methods of indentation or vibro-immersion are not suitable, and vibro-impact immersion should be used; c) in the presence of weak soils, it is possible to use both the indentation method and vibration immersion; d) in the conditions of a limited construction site, vibration immersion may be the best immersion method. The result of the work is the creation of a block diagram of the algorithm for choosing the method of piling for bank protection with heterogeneous soils.

  • Triangular Lattice Tower Optimization

The article proposes a technique for optimizing trihedral lattice tower structures according to the criterion of minimum mass, taking into account limitations in strength, ultimate slenderness of elements, stability, and the absence of resonant vortex excitation. A lattice tower with a cross section of elements in the form of round pipes, consisting of two sections, is considered. The variable parameters are the width of the tower, the height of the lower section, the outer diameters of the cross-section of the chords and gratings, the number of panels in the lower and upper sections. The solution of the nonlinear optimization problem is performed in the MATLAB environment using the Global Optimization Toolbox package. Determination of forces in the tower and frequencies of natural oscillations is performed by the finite element method using the subroutine for MATLAB developed by the authors. The influences on the tower are ice and wind loads, the dead weight of the tower, as well as the weight of the equipment. When calculating the effect of wind, the pulsation component is taken into account. The surrogate optimization method is used to solve the nonlinear optimization problem. In the initial approximation, the mass of the tower was 2 tons. As a result of optimization, the mass was reduced by more than 2 times.

  • Secondary use of ash and slag waste in road construction

The increasing problem of the formation of ash dumps in the Rostov region dictates the need to search for environmentally friendly methods of waste disposal in the heat and power sector. In this article, the ash and slag waste of the Novocherkassk GRES is considered. We analyzed the chemical and fractional compositions of the ash-slag mixture formed at a coal-fired thermal power plant and proposed the use of ash waste with a size of 10-100 microns in road construction as a micro-filler. To study the strength of the road surface using ash microparticles, we manufactured and tested cubes of modified concrete mixture for compression using a press machine. The obtained result showed that the use of ash as a micro-filler in concrete does not affect its strength in any way. The tests of control samples with the use of ash wastes showed an improvement in the water resistance and frost resistance of concrete while maintaining its strength.
