  • Reducing the concentration of fine dust PM2.5 and PM10 in construction by optimizing facilities on the construction site

In most countries of the world, the construction industry is one of the main sources of air pollution in urban areas and agglomerations. One of the most dangerous pollutants are fine dust particles PM2.5 and PM10, formed from the production of dusty construction processes. Due to the optimal location of administrative facilities on the construction site, it is possible to reduce the concentration of dust emissions of particles PM2.5 and PM10. In addition, the cost of the dust control method is of concern to contractors, as it leads to an increase in the cost of construction. Therefore, reducing overall transportation costs is another optimization goal. To solve several tasks at once, the study uses multi-purpose optimization using the particle swarm method (MRF) algorithm to find an optimized construction site layout that can simultaneously reduce both the level of pollution from dust emissions and transportation costs.

  • Managing the life cycle of a construction investment project taking into account the importance of environmental factors

This article considers the assessment of the life cycle costs of investment and construction projects, taking into account the costs aimed at reducing the level of pollution into the environment. Financial calculation tools used to analyze investment decisions and calculate the cost of the life cycle of an object (LCC life cycle costs, also life cycle costs) are closely related methods of evaluating investments, including equipment, installation, construction work and various infrastructure investments necessary to maintain and develop the construction sector in the country's economy. For environmental management, this analysis allows the construction company to assess the financial benefits of alternative strategies or compare such strategies with the current state of affairs. The calculation of investments in terms of costs, cost savings and the potential to reduce the risk of environmental responsibility is the basis on which construction organizations should base their long-term strategies. The article is aimed at highlighting the issues of rational calculation of investment decisions in construction to maintain a favorable environmental situation in the territory where the construction production will be located.

  • Feasibility study of dust-collecting equipment in the design solutions for the reconstruction of buildings

The article presents an assessment of dust collection equipment in terms of technological, economic, and operational characteristics. The criteria for this assessment and methods for calculating indicators that characterize the effectiveness of its use in the reconstruction of buildings carried out in cramped conditions of urban development are determined. The development of design solutions for the reconstruction of objects should not reduce the level of safety of builders and personnel of the reconstruction object, as well as cause damage to the environment, in particular, air pollution with dust particles from construction processes. The introduction of cost-effective means of combating atmospheric air pollution in design solutions, as well as the effective organization of construction production, which reduces the environmental burden on the territory, will allow the contractor to increase its competitive advantage when participating in tenders and determining the contract price for the reconstruction of buildings. The choice of cost-effective protective measures will save costs, subsequently determining the profit from the reconstruction of the building. The economic calculation given in the article allows you to determine the amount of operating costs in each individual case, and make a rational choice from the economic point of view of purchasing and using equipment in the course of work.

  • Estimation of environmental costs of dust pollution in local construction

The article presents an assessment of the environmental costs of dust pollution in local construction. The environmental assessment of construction in the region should take into account the optimal conditions for preventing damage to all related areas of activity, both during construction and throughout the life cycle of the project. Under the damage caused to the environment by dust emissions from construction and other sources, we mean additional costs necessary to eliminate the consequences of atmospheric pollution. Losses in the cost and productivity of finished construction products are increasing very significantly due to the introduction of measures to protect the environment from dust emissions. These losses are especially noticeable in the production of earthwork, installation, and plastering works. The purpose of the study is to determine the cost of damage caused by dust pollution, develop and propose solutions to reduce this type of damage and associated environmental costs.

  • Reducing the impact of fine dust particles PM0,5-PM10 in construction on the health of workers

The article presents an analysis of the impact of fine dust particles on the health of builders, released during the production of construction processes and suggests measures to reduce it. A serious threat to the health of workers on the construction site and people living in the vicinity of it is represented by fine dust particles in a suspended state, both in themselves and in the total concentration of harmful air pollution near construction production. Analysis of the monitoring of suspended matter concentrations has shown that the ratio between the time of exposure to suspended dust particles in different concentrations directly affects the health of people. Air pollution in the work area negatively affects performance, causes diseases in workers, and can cause injuries due to reduced visibility. The organization of conditions corresponding to labor protection and safety, healthy environmental conditions on the construction site will ensure an increase in labor productivity by up to 12% and improve the quality of processes performed.

This article discusses the new technological solutions for the installation of green roof structures. The developed technologies are aimed at solving the problems of improving the environmental safety of construction production, improving the comfort level of the urban environment, and improving the urban appearance. Green roof structures are considered as a way to reduce the concentration of dust pollution and its spread, including from construction production by implementing this technology in the design and construction of residential neighborhoods, where there is a phased commissioning of facilities and residents of already populated homes experience the effects of pollution from objects being built in the neighborhood. The article describes in detail the characteristics of two developed green roof structures that can be used in the design and construction of new facilities, as well as in the reconstruction of existing buildings, describes the device technology, and calculates the cost of installation. These technological solutions allow you to save labor costs during construction work, by reducing the increase in the incidence of workers and, accordingly, reducing the cost of construction work.

  • The study of the fine dust particles distribution in the working area of construction processes

This article deals with the study of the characteristics of fine dust particles released on the construction site during the production of works using the lognormal distribution in the calculations. Particles of fine dust, less than 10 microns, represent the greatest risk when inhaled, as they can penetrate into the lungs. The study of the granular composition of the dust released in the air of the working area is approximately expressed as a function of the normal distribution curve, when the diameter of the particles is calculated logarithmically. The presented calculations in the article allow us to determine the distribution of dust on the territory of the construction site and identify the boundaries of the sanitary protection zone, when the value of dust at the border of it will correspond to the maximum permissible emissions.

Currently, the necessary environmental requirements that must be met during the construction process are set out in legislative documents. However, there is a sufficient amount of environmental data that is being studied and can be used in the design and construction of facilities. According to the WHO, the limit values for fine dust PM2.5 and PM10 are set separately. The annual mean PM2.5 and PM10 should be 10 and 20 µg / m3, respectively, while the average value of 24 hours should not exceed 20 and 5 µg / m3, respectively. It is necessary to consider the main elements of the environmental assessment of projects for development of the additional measures to reduce the environmental load on the environment during construction works. In practice, during an environmental assessment performing , all these elements are present in the overall assessment system.

  • Spatio-temporal category in architectural composition

The question of the spatial and temporal forms of the architectural composition of urban development is considered. The philosophical and technical problems of using architectural forms and styles are solved. Revealed current opportunities for improving modern architectural composition. The concept of “time” in architecture is also used in various semantic evaluations. This meaning is often determined by the length of time, by which we denote large historical rhythms determined by social processes (alternation of social formations, change of styles in art); seasonal and daily rhythms determined by natural cycles that are the basis of all time measurements; periods of internal changes in the architectural form and, finally, smaller divisions - rhythms in the activities and perceptions of people). Within each time interval, in turn, certain changes are highlighted - the initial, the climax and the completion. Discrepancies between different time cycles at the same and in those spatial boundaries lead to different contradictions: between the periods of moral and physical aging of the building, between the time flexible function and the rigid spatial structure, between changes in natural climatic conditions and stability of the building envelope. The desire of architects to solve contradictions, to provide the most flexible flexibility in the function, to extend the moral life of the object - reflect the various theories of mobile architecture. Such developments emphasize the need for project-based time factor or “time design”. This article is useful to future architects for the formation of modern thinking about architecture, and architects with work experience who need to improve themselves as specialists.
