The article is devoted to the analysis of trends in the field of human-computer interaction and promising methods of usability research. For the first time ergodesign is presented as a new direction of human-oriented scientific and project activity in the field of user interfaces designing. To assess the ergodesign interface, it is necessary to analyze at least four criteria that together characterize the external interface of the product and the interaction with the user: effectiveness, efficiency, satisfaction and aesthetic appeal. The methods of usability studies are considered, special attention is paid to the method of oculography (eye-tracking). The prospects of using the tracking method in addition to the traditional methods of usability research in ergodesign are shown by means of a special study.
