  • Monitoring soil soaking in the foundation area using dynamic probing

Water saturation of soils in the area of foundations is accompanied by a deterioration in their bearing capacity and is often detected only with the appearance of the first signs of deformation. Effective monitoring of soil conditions helps reduce escalating damage. For this purpose, a variant of dynamic penetration was developed and applied, which made it possible to establish a fivefold reduction in the resistance of soils to indenter penetration in the water-saturated zone in comparison with their natural state. The approach provides rapid mapping of the state of the soil mass in areas of expected soaking, for example, in the area of backfilling of foundations. The results are applicable for monitoring soil soaking in technogenic conditions and are of interest to a wide range of specialists in the field of construction.

  • Conceptual model of geofiltration near the mouth of the river Temernik in the city of Rostov-on-Don

The low-Thickness aeration zone in the loess soils of Rostov-on-Don is favorable for underflooding. Active civil engineering in the groundwater discharge zone generates a delayed geological risk of seepage and underflooding. To increase the reliability of hydrogeological forecasts, the materials of engineering and geological surveys have been analyzed and summarized, and a conceptual hydrogeological model of the near-river part of the Temernik River has been developed. The model describes the geological structure, boundary conditions of geofiltration, ranges of changes in soil filtration properties. To refine the hydrogeological parameters and reduce the uncertainty of the model, multivariate numerical modeling is planned.

  • Complex assessment of geological hazards of the territories of Rostov region

To the Volgodon settlement-system has developed thematic maps of subsiding soils, indicating their capacity, groundwater levels, landslide and erosion hazards. Sources of information were the materials of the geological surveys, remote sensing of the Earth and local geological maps . Application of GIS-technologies and numerical geofiltration has significantly increased the quality of the results. On the basis of the results, has developed a comprehensive map of geological hazards.
