In modern conditions the problem of assessment and privatization of municipal property is quite relevant in connection with the transition to market relations, and the development of the institution of property. Valuation of property as a sphere assures the efficiency of property management in Russia at the moment needs to be reformed. This article discusses the causes and main directions transforming the valuation system in the Russian Federation, including focuses on the changing role of the appraiser, the basic directions of improvement of legislation on valuation activities, improving areas of self-regulatory organizations of appraisers.
