  • Monitoring of atmospheric air pollution by PM2.5 dust particles by NOVA SDS011 sensor

    The problem of atmospheric air pollution by dust particles, along with the formation of greenhouse gases, covers many countries of the world. To monitor the state of atmospheric air, expensive and cumbersome monitoring stations are traditionally used, for which state organizations are responsible. The use of inexpensive sensor particle sensors that will allow real-time measurements at the border of the sanitary protection zone of industrial enterprises and on the territory of the residential zone opens up new prospects in the field of atmospheric air research. Currently, about 10 thousand inexpensive sensors operate on the territory of 75 countries of the world, which causes the involvement of citizens in the collection of data on the state of atmospheric air. The presented technology for monitoring the concentration of fine particulate matter can replace the traditional measurement method, but the question remains of the value of the data obtained in terms of their accuracy. This article discusses the factor influencing the deviation of the readings of the inexpensive Nova SDS011 solid particle sensor. To do this, the sensor was tested in real environmental conditions, experimental dependences of the concentration of dust particles of no more than 2.5 micrometers depending on humidity were obtained.

  • Analysis of the transfer of air masses from sources of flare emissions across the territory of the Irkutsk region using the HYSPLIT model

    The paper analyzes the features of the spread of flare emissions from precisely identified sources of atmospheric emissions in the Irkutsk region using the trajectories of air mass transfer according to calculations using the HYSPLIT model and the "Fire Map" service from SCANEX. Estimates of the movement of flare emissions were made, the dominant directions of air mass transfer and their distribution in the regions of the Irkutsk region were noted. The impact of the natural and geographical features of the region on the spread of flare emissions was also assessed.

  • On the influence of ambient temperature on the initial elevation of flare emissions

    The article deals with the issue of the influence of ambient temperature on the initial height of the flare emissions rise. The paper presents full-scale and theoretical studies of flare emissions operating near a temporary residential complex. In the course of the work, a series of images of flare emissions at different ambient temperature conditions was carried out and their subsequent comparison with the theoretical model was carried out. Field studies verify the theoretical model and establish that the initial height of the flare emissions depends on the ambient temperature and has an inverse proportionality.

  • Analysis of the chemical composition of settled dust near the source of flare emissions

    The article discusses the impact of emissions into the atmosphere, formed as a result of combustion of associated petroleum gas, on the chemical composition of settled dust near the gas torch. The paper presents full-scale studies of the emissions of a torch operating near a settlement, the chemical composition of particles in the obtained samples of settled dust is studied. In the course of the work, the results obtained were compared with research data obtained for areas where there is no flare combustion. As a result of this comparison, it was concluded that flare emissions have a significant impact on the chemical composition of settled dust in the vicinity of existing flare systems.
